Dental Implants

Dental implants enable us to replace a missing tooth (or teeth) or stabilize a denture.

At each location where a new tooth is to be placed, a small titanium “post” (screw) is surgically, and very precisely, inserted into either the upper or lower jaw bone. After the jaw bone has fused to the titanium, the post acts as a new root to support an artificial crown, bridge or denture.

Implants require very careful and thorough maintenance during the procedure, but they offer a number of benefits:

  • The implant functions like a brand new tooth, and can eliminate the need for a denture.
  • An implant also avoids the need to involve the surrounding teeth (as is the case in a bridge).
  • Finally, teeth around the gap can be held in position by an implant: This can not only enhance appearance and speech, but prevent food impaction related decay and gum infection.
